iPOD Journal

The plan's to document the stuff added on and taken off my iPOD each time I plug it back into my computer.

Physical Music Purchased:

  • Bobby Jimmy & The Critters, “We Like Ugly Women” 12-Inch ($12.00)
  • Colonel Abrams, “Music Is the Answer” 12-Inch ($5.00)
  • Common, Like Water for Chocolate CD ($7.00)
  • Frank Ski, Club Trax Volume 3 ($12.00)
  • Freez, “I.O.U” 12-Inch Single ($3.00)
  • Grandmaster Slice & Izzy Chill, “Shall We Dance (Electric Slide)” 12-Inch ($3.00)
  • Robert Glasper, Double Booked CD ($16.99)
  • The Invisibles, “Donkey Kong (Catch You In The Break)” 12-Inch ($5.00)
  • Video featuring Buckelew, “Somebody (Hey Boy)” 12-Inch ($3.00)

Added:

  • Barnes, Block Work: Volume 1: The kind of mixtape that sound really street-generic at first but opens-up slowly and when you least expect it. Can’t wait for some still-undiscovered song on here to show up on ‘SHUFFLE’ and blow me away.
  • Beanie Sigel, The Broad Street Bully: Only really listened to this once, lots of good songs and a few okay ones that could become good with more listens.
  • Gucci Mane, Murder Was the Case: Trying not to OD on Gucci so I’m returning to this concise, tight, official, unofficial official album.
  • Husker Du, Candy Apple Grey: An old favorite, want to see if it still works.
  • INKSTUDS PODCAST: Yosh Collective: Brandon Graham, James Stokoe, and others bullshitting on a comix radio show.
  • Jay Z, The Blueprint 3: There’s something deeply affecting about Jay’s approach to aging and maturing that makes this something better than it is for me, which is all that really matters.
  • Raekwon, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2: Clearly a grower.
  • Robert Glasper, Double Booked: New Glasper is really good, still wrapping my head around the vocoder weirdness of the second half.
  • Suga Free, Street Gospel: Watched the DVD DJ Quik: Visualism and was reminded of this minor classic.
  • Various Artists, Huntsville, AL: The Rocket City: Still revealing rewards. Another one perfect for ‘SHUFFLE’.
  • Z-Ro, Let the Truth Be Told: Duh.
  • Zomby, One Foot Ahead of the Other EP: This is pretty bad, but I’m going to give it some more listens.

Removed:

  • Gucci Mane, The Movie Pt. 2: Just trying to take a Gucci break.
  • Mercyful Fate, Melissa: Can only listen to “Into the Coven” so many times.
  • Metallica, Kill Em All: A classic, but just not what I want to hear right now.
  • Mount Eerie, Wind’s Poem: Boring. Sorry Phil.
  • Today is the Day, Sadness Will Prevail: Really, just too intense to listen to.
  • Willie Isz, Georgiavania: Strangely, this works better as an album but I’ve listened to it enough that at this point, I’m stripping it for parts when it comes on ‘SHUFFLE’.
